In the heart of Bilbao’s prestigious central district, BAT has undertaken the comprehensive renovation of a luxury residence within a historically listed building. This project stands as a careful exercise in balance: preserving the elegance of the past while introducing the sophistication and comfort demanded by contemporary life.
The intervention respects and highlights original architectural features, such as delicate plaster mouldings, intricate woodwork, and generous ceiling heights, restoring their character and craftsmanship. At the same time, the residence is redefined through fluid new layouts, custom-designed carpentry, and refined finishes that seamlessly integrate state-of-the-art solutions in lighting, energy efficiency, and acoustic comfort.
Every space has been conceived as an interplay between tradition and innovation: arched transitions frame perspectives, natural light is enhanced through strategic openings, and materials such as noble woods, marble, and bespoke metalwork create a tactile richness. The interiors are enriched with contemporary furniture and lighting, introducing warm tones and sculptural details that dialogue with the historic envelope.
Strict compliance with the regulatory framework governing protected properties has guided the design, ensuring the preservation of heritage value while allowing for a renewed lifestyle standard.
